BUILDING BCMS headquarters on 1604 near NW Military Highway
DEDICATION
continued from page 15
There are a number of articles in this magazine about what happened
next. The building was underway with the help of a great team of profes-
sionals. Dr. Swift led the design and construction efforts, while BCMS
staff worked on refining the looks and logistics of the building and figuring
out how to pay for it.
Raising the money for the building was the next hurdle for me. The so-
ciety had money left from the sale of the former building, we raised funds
from operations in 2014 and 2015, and finally we assessed every active
physician member to help pay for the building. It still left us far short of
paying for the building, but it enabled us to get the construction started.
We are proud to present to the San Antonio and Bexar County com-
munity a building that salutes our history in Bexar County. The building
is elegant inside and out and mirrors the mission design that everyone as-
sociates with San Antonio. Our “Alamo North” building is here to serve
our community and make a difference for physicians and patients for
many years to come. Thanks to our physicians, donors and
those who all made this great effort possible.
Steve Fitzer is the executive director and CEO of BCMS.
