IMMUNIZATIONS
lowing criteria: Medicaid eligible, uninsured, Amer-
ican Indian or Alaska Native, underinsured, or en-
rolled in CHIP.
The TVFC program gives all children a better
chance of getting their recommended vaccinations
on schedule. Being a TVFC provider helps chil-
dren stay in their medical home and return to their
primary provider for healthcare needs. The TVFC
program provides the ability to bill non-Medicaid
and non-CHIP clients an administration fee, as
well as access to the vaccine ordering and reporting
system. Physicians and staff receive training and
resources to be a successful immunization partner.
This year is the 25th anniversary of the Vaccines
for Children program, and it has provided great
value to communities across the nation. In Bexar
County alone, more than 150 TVFC providers
served over 314,000 children through the age of
18 in 2018. You could help increase this number
and provide services to children who otherwise
may go without vaccinations.
A phone app called HPV Vaccine: Same Way,
Same Day™ offers a brief, interactive role-play
simulation designed to enhance healthcare
providers’ ability to introduce the HPV vaccine
and address hesitant parents’ concerns. The simu-
lation was developed by the Academic Pediatric
Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics,
and Kognito. It is available from Google Play and
the iPhone App Store.
