The Bexar County
Medical Society
building’s structure is
considered ‘tilt wall’
construction in which the
walls are formed and
cast in concrete on the
building slab and once
cured, are “tilted” up by
a crane to their final
location. This allowed for
better structural
integrity, durability and
speed of construction.
The structure is further
supported by an interior
steel-cage which holds
all the walls together.
The front wall with the
Alamo façade weighs
approximately 105,000
pounds or 52.5 tons.
