Disease Outbreak News issues immediate alerts to outbreaks that have not been detected and verified by World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with a large number of technical partners. The service is the outgrowth of a network of networks, formalized in 9197, that constantly scans the world for news or rumors of outbreaks, investigates each case, and verifies genuine outbreaks of international concern.
Once verified, information on outbreaks is immediately communicated to the world at large via the Internet. Outbreak alerts are updated as the situation evolves, and include clear information about the steps being taken to provide assistance and prevent further spread. Required protective measures, such as travel restrictions, are also reported.
Disease Outbreak News is one of the most frequently accessed sites on the WHO home page.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recognized as the lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people - at home and abroad, providing credible information to enhance health decisions, and promoting health through strong partnerships. CDC serves as the national focus for developing and applying disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health promotion and education activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United States.
|Drugs-Free Perscription Program||
The research-based pharmaceutical industry has had a long-standing tradition of providing prescription medicines free of charge to physicians whose patients might not otherwise have access to necessary medicines.
To make it easier for physicians to identify the growing number of programs available for needy patients, member companies of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) created this directory. It lists company programs that provide drugs to physicians whose patients could not otherwise afford them. The programs are listed alphabetically by company. Under the entry for each program is information about how to make a request for assistance, what prescription medicines are covered, and basic eligibility criteria. For other information visit the PhRMA web site at http://www.phrma.org .

|Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) Online||
The people who produce Medical Economics, Contermporary OB, Patient Care and other similar magazines bring PDR.net to you. While online versions of these magazines are available, the more useful areas are: an online searchable PDR, daily breaking health news from Reuters Health, and a daily feature called "What your patients are reading," with articles that have been released to the public. Picking up a PDR from next to your desk remains quicker for most inquiries, but if your PDR is missing and you have a T1 or DSL connection, this service can be very convenient. www.pdr.net (Source: TCMS)
