Rare Human Case of Bird Flu in Texas Following Contact with Dairy Cattle
Following the announcement that the Bird Flu has spread to dairy cattle across multiple states, a rare human case was reported in Texas. Human cases are known to produce a range of symptoms from eye infection to death. Officials emphasize continued practice of good hygiene to prevent further spread. Read more.

Mpox Cases in 2024 Already Nearly Double Those of 2023
The Hill (4/2, Choi) reports, "The number of mpox cases in 2024 is already nearly double the number of cases that were detected in all of 2023." The CDC has reported 582 cases in the US so far this year. The vaccine will now be commercially available in the U.S. Learn more. 

UT Health San Antonio Establishes an Initiative to Advance Research and Treatment on Substance Use
UT Health San Antonio has unveiled the Be Well Institute on substance use and related disorders, bringing new advancements on research and evidence-based treatment. The initiative will use clinical and public health programs, education, and community engagement to address addiction and related concerns. Read more.
