Lawmakers Introduce Physician Led and Rural Access to Quality Care Act
The Physician Led and Rural Access to Quality Care Act was introduced in the House of Representatives this month. The legislation will allow certain exemptions to rules for physician-owned hospitals in rural areas in addition to removing ban that prevents existing physician-owned hospitals from expanding. COVID Map Shows Heighten Cases as Summer Wave Spreads
According to the Center of Disease Control, more than half of states are now seeing "high" or "very high" levels of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that cause COVID-19 in wastewater testing. The uptick is in line with a growing number of COVID-19 emergency room visits, which has increased by 115% from last month. Read more. 

Texas Faces Mental Health Shortage
The Texas Tribune reported that Texas is experiencing a significant shortage of mental health professionals, with 246 of its 254 counties designated as "shortage areas." Despite increases in other professions, many counties lack essential mental health providers. Learn more.
