Medicaid, CHIP Postpartum Coverage Extension Will Take Effect March 1
Pregnant and postpartum Texans soon will see their Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage extended from two months to one year thanks to TMA advocacy. Texas physicians welcome the policy change but want to ensure its implementation is successful. Read more.

Feds Require AI Transparency
First-of-their-kind transparency regulations established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services aim to help physicians determine the safety of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The new rule also established a new information-blocking exception and implemented a 21st Century Cures Act requirement for health IT developers. Read more.

CDC Expected to Abandon Five-Day Isolation Guidance after Positive COVID-19 Test
CNN reports, "The science around Covid-19 transmission hasn’t changed, but experts broadly agreed that easing isolation timeframes won’t significantly increase community transmission or severe outcomes in part because the virus has been circulating at very high levels, even with more restrictive guidance in place" Continue reading.

Virtual Scribes Enhanced Relationships Between Patients and Physicians
Virtual Scribes has reduced electonic health record burden for physicians and increased positive interaction with patients, according to two new studies. One physician called it the "most impactful" strategy her practice has implemented against burnout. Read more
