Following TMA advocacy, the Texas Legislature approved funding for two years for statewide integration of the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) and NarxCare into electronic health record and pharmacy management systems. US Households Will Be Able to Order More Free COVID-19 Tests Very Soon
The US government will relaunch a program to provide free COVID-19 home tests to Americans, the US Department of Health and Human Services stated. The program was suspended in May, after the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), to preserve supply. As of recently, US households will be able to order four free tests from Covidtests.gov starting September 25. Read more
Medicare Advantage Audits Expected to Rise in Face of Increased Federal Scrutiny
Based on a new rule and in response to heightened scrutiny, Medicare Advantage plans – and the physician practices that care for patients enrolled in them – should expect an increase in the number of audits related to such risk-sharing contracts. Half a Million Children and Families Regain Medicaid Coverage
Some 500,000 children and families have had their Medicaid coverage reinstated after many states improperly terminated their enrollment because of a systems issue, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services stated. States are in the midst of reevaluating the eligibility of more than 87 million people in Medicaid and several million more in the Children’s Health Insurance Program and terminating those who no longer qualify for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
