Challenging Flu, Illness Season Ahead
As we enter the cold and flu illness season, Texas physicians warn there are three viruses lurking in the air – the influenza virus that causes the flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Physicians say the best way to stay safe – especially for those at greatest risk of severe illness – is to vaccinate against all three. Read more

FDA Warns Online Vendors to Cease Selling Unapproved Weight-Loss Drugs
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published letters warning two online vendors to stop selling unapproved versions of semaglutide and tirzepatide, the active ingredients in popular GLP-1 class medications including Novo Nordisk’s (NOVOb.CO) powerful weight-loss drug Wegovy. The agency stated it was critical that the vendors cease selling the unapproved medicines to protect the public from harm. Continue reading

Breast Cancer Rates Are Rising, but More Women Are Surviving Too

While rates continue to creep up year-on-year, particularly among younger women, evolutions in diagnostics and treatment mean breast cancer patients face far better prospects than ever before. Rapid drug development, personalized screening recommendations, targeted therapies and new treatments like immunotherapies have all helped women diagnosed with early stage and even metastatic breast cancer. Read more
