Getting Covid-19 Booster and Flu Shot at the Same Time: What to Know
Fall and winter are around the corner, which means not only is it time to get your flu shot, but US health officials are urging everyone who is eligible to get their updated Covid-19 booster, too. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the updated Covid-19 vaccine boosters this month, after the US Food and Drug Administration’s authorization. Read more

Overdose Deaths Persist Despite Physician Efforts to Reduce Opioid Prescribing
Even as deaths from illicit drugs like fentanyl are rising, a new American Medical Association report shows a 45% decrease in opioid prescribing over the past decade in Texas. The AMA report shows that physicians and health care professionals in every state have decreased opioid prescriptions dispensed from retail pharmacies between 2012 and 2021. Continue Reading

End of COVID-19 Pandemic is “In Sight”
The world has never been in a better position to end the COVID-19 pandemic, the head of the World Health Organization said on Wednesday. The virus, which emerged in China in late 2019, has killed nearly 6.5 million people and infected 606 million, roiling global economies and overwhelming healthcare systems. Read more

Learn the Warning Signs of Physician Suicide
September 17 was the National Physician Suicide Awareness (NPSA) Day, and with help from The Physicians Foundation and other organizations’ Vital Signs campaign, you can learn the warning signals to look for in a colleague who may be in mental distress. Check out the signals here.

Not Registered? Register to Vote in Texas
Registering to vote in Texas is easy! So long as you are eligible, you will be able to register to vote in your county of residence to make your voice heard in local, state and federal elections. Texas law requires eligible voters to register by the 30th day before Election Day. Click here to start a new voter registration application.
