Monkeypox Virus Infection Treatment Update
Cases of Monkeypox continue to be identified across the nation with 71,096 cases being reported worldwide including 26,577 in the US, 2,410 in Texas and 90 in Bexar County as of October 10, 2022. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided an updated Interim Clinical Guidance for the Treatment of Monkeypox. Read more

Flu Cases on the Rise as US Prepares for Possibly Severe Season
As of October 1st, there were 969 cases of influenza A and 52 cases of influenza B reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Over the same period, the percent positivity rate has risen from 0.49% to 2.5%. Continue reading

Texas Physician Growth Remains Strong, but Robust Recruitment Still Needed
According to Texas Medical Association research, Texas has made great strides in recruiting new physicians to the state and keeping them, but it still has a long way to go to catch up with physician-patient ratios seen in other states. Texas’ huge improvements in physician recruitment come amid smoking hot population growth. Read more

Ebola Outbreak Spurs Precautionary Warning for Texas Physicians
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a health alert following an official declaration of an outbreak in Uganda. As of October 6, a total of 44 confirmed cases, 10 confirmed deaths and 20 probable deaths related to Ebola were reported. Zero suspected, probable or confirmed Ebola cases had been reported in the U.S. or other countries outside of Uganda. Continue reading
