attacking bodily organs, including the heart, even in healthy,
young athletes. Doctors and researchers at the University of
Maryland and other Big Ten schools plan to follow the athletes even
after graduation to better understand the consequences of COVID-19

Hospitalizations Surging In San Antonio
COVID-19 is on the rise again
in San Antonio, with diagnosed cases and hospitalizations related
to the illness surging in recent weeks. In five 24-hour periods in
the past two weeks, more than 1,000 positive COVID tests were
reported in Bexar County. The real number of infections is almost

are Rapidly Increasing Across the Nation
Cases of monkeypox continue
to be identified across the nation with 7,000 cases being reported
worldwide including 700 in the US and 24 in Texas as of July 7,
2022. Early data suggest that anyone who has been in close contact

Free Clinics Open
for Children's COVID Shots
Vaccines are the most
effective way to protect our children from life-threatening
illnesses, such as COVID-19. University Health now offers for
children ages 6 months to 5 years. Appointments are
required. Metro Health also offers COVID-19 vaccine to
children, ages 6 months older. Appointments can be made at the Immunizations Clinic
and the vaccines will be available at Metro Health pop-up
clinics. Those vaccinated at the Metro Health clinic,
are eligible to receive $100 H-E-B gift card upon completion
of the initial series of shots. The COVID vaccines for children, 6
months and older, will also be offered at all pharmacies and retail
