Important Physician News and Deadlines

State Recruiting Docs to Give COVID Preexposure Drug Evusheld
State health officials want to spread the word about Evusheld, a monoclonal antibody treatment that helps prevent COVID-19 infection among immunocompromised patients at high risk of progression to severe cases. The state says the drug is in strong supply, and it wants physicians to step up to administer it. Learn more about Evusheld.

What Investors Should Know About the Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Our Circle of Friends Gold sponsor is offering our members some perspective of the current situation and how it affects long-term investors. Between long clinic hours and endless charts, it is very difficult for the busy practicing physician to separate the noise from information that can be used to make a decision. Learn more.

Federal Surprise Billing Law in Effect
TMA and American Medical Association leaders are urging physicians to get educated now about the new federal law on surprise medical billing. Many related practice changes were the subject of an AMA educational webinar held Jan. 20, which is now available as a recording. See a recap.

Learn About the Harm of the "Resilience" Narrative
Michelle Owens, DO, says the term "resilience" has been "thrown around flippantly in relation to the physician community," and the use of that term is damaging to the profession. At a virtual event hosted by TMA's Women Physicians Section on March 22, Dr. Owens will explain why – and what doctors can do to navigate this uncertain era. The event is open to all members. How to register.

Update: Deadline Extended to Apply to State Antimicrobial Committees
Physicians in some of Texas' public health regions can still apply for the chance to help stop the spread of multidrug-resistant organisms as part of an Antimicrobial Stewardship Regional Advisory Committee. The state recently extended the deadline for applying an extra month, to March 15, for several regions. See how to apply.
