Health Insurers Now Required to Post Comprehensive Price Data
Physicians, patients, and employers have long wondered whether they’re getting a fair shake from health insurers, whose prices have been clouded in secrecy, until now. A provision of the Affordable Care Act that recently took effect requires most health insurers and self-insured employers to disclose their payments to hospitals, physicians, and other health care professionals. AMA Announces CPT Update for Monkeypox Testing and Vaccination
The American Medical Association (AMA) announced an update to Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)®, the nation’s leading medical terminology code set for describing health care procedures and services, that includes a new laboratory test code for the Orthopoxvirus and two codes for the vaccines being utilized to prevent Monkeypox infection. Medical Practice Scheduling Tips to Help Improve the Bottom Line
If there's one thing that can harm the success of a medical practice, it's having patients spending too much time in the waiting room. Appointment scheduling is a critical function of a doctor's office, yet many practices schedule in a seemingly haphazard fashion. Often, the practice's scheduling strategy, if you want to call it that, is to fill an appointment into any slot available with little regard for the reasons patients are being seen. Health Literacy, Location Impact Type of Telehealth Modality Used
While reviewing patient demographics and social determinants of health, a JAMA Network Study found that low health literacy and high area deprivation index (ADI) can determine how telehealth is used and the modality selected. Find more information here.
