Will Residency Interviews Stay Online After the Pandemic?
This year's Match Day will be an even bigger event than it usually is because it's part of an unprecedented experiment in medical education. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual interviews to select residents have become the norm. More on that major shift. The Coalition of Physician Accountability recommended virtual interviews this academic year as a way to standardize interviews during the pandemic and to further study the impact of the virtual format. Health Advisory: Recommendation to Report Cronobacter Sakazakii Infections in Infants
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local partners, are investigating four consumer complaints of infant illness related to products from Abbott Nutrition’s Sturgis, MI facility received from 09/20/2021 to 01/18/2022. All cases are reported to have consumed powdered infant formula produced from Abbott Nutrition’s Sturgis, MI facility. Continue reading

TMA Win on Surprise-Billing Rule Also a Win for Access to Care
When the Texas Medical Association scored a win over federal regulators in a Feb. 23 U.S. district court decision, it wasn't just a victory for physicians. It was a victory for patients, too. The court agreed an arbitration provision of federal No Surprises Act rulemaking "conflicts with the unambiguous terms" that Congress passed in the law. More on the ruling.

FDA Warns Against Three Unauthorized COVID-19 Tests Over Concerns of False Results
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday warned people against the use of unauthorized versions of certain COVID-19 rapid antigen tests currently being marketed in the United States. These tests have not been authorized, cleared or approved by the FDA for distribution or use in the United States, the health agency said, adding that they may show false results. Learn more.
