Surgeon General Sounds Alarm on Physician Burnout, Recommends Corrective Steps The U.S. surgeon general is calling attention to health care worker burnout and issuing recommendations to improve well-being for physicians and others in an advisory on the topic. A national shortage of up to 139,000 physicians is projected by 2033. See the advisory.               Financial Stress During Residency? TMA Low- Interest Loans Can Help TMA's resident loan program offers up to $6,000 at a fixed 4.4% interest rate to qualified physicians who are completing their residency training in a Texas accredited program. In most cases, funds are disbursed within three weeks from application submission. Find out more. Explore CME options. Texas Ranked Worst State for Access to Prenatal, Maternal Care A recent study ranked Texas 50th among all states in access to high-quality prenatal and maternal care. The study evaluated states based on six metrics tied to access and quality, but two criteria in particular accounted for Texas' low ranking. Find out which ones.
