WHO Produces Easier Naming System for SARS-CoV-2 Variants
Viruses like SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, produce different variants, versions that accumulate enough mutations to make them distinct from the original virus. Remembering the names of those variants just got a little easier for patients thanks to a World Health Organization naming system based on Greek letters. Read More 

Health Advisory: Increased Interseasonal Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Activity in Texas June 24, 2021
In Texas, RSV infections occur primarily during the fall and winter cold and flu season. In April 2002, RSV activity decreased rapidly, likely due to the adoption of public health measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, since late March 2021, DSHS has observed an increase in RSV detections reported to the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance System (NREVSS). Read full health advisory.
