Districts
While many students had at
least some face-to-face instruction for the 2019-2020 school year,
some students haven’t set foot in a physical classroom since the
Spring of 2020. The following San Antonio school districts have
released COVID-19 plans for the 2021-2022 school year. View list.
Pfizer-BioNTech
Vaccine Expiration Extension
The FDA has approved an amendment to the EUA for
Pfizer-BioNTech extending the expiration dates of COVID-19 Vaccine
from 6 to 9 months. Cartons and vials of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19
Vaccine with an expiry date of August 2021 through February 2022
printed on the label may remain in use for 3 months beyond the
printed date as long as authorized storage conditions between -90°C
to -60°C (-130°F to -76°F) have been maintained. Please

Health: Candida Auris Information For PHR 8 Healthcare Facilities
In January 2021, Candida
auris was added to the Texas Notifiable Conditions list with
required isolate submission to the DSHS Laboratory in Austin. Since
then, many cases of antifungal-resistant C. auris have been
identified in Texas residents, including cases that were resistant
to all three classes of antifungal drugs. C. auris has also caused
outbreaks in healthcare settings and is considered a serious public
health threat requiring rapid identification and containment to
prevent further spread. View information sheet.

A sad reality about
COVID-19’s resurgence is that it highlights the need for physicians
to sign death certificates. Making sure they maintain registration
with the state’s Texas Electronic Vital Events Registrar (TxEVER),
where deaths must be logged, is a critical requirement of that
