Attention Physicians
San Antonio Metro Health is advising to not send immunocompromised patients to mass vax sites for a 3rd dose until further notice. Eligibility and optimal timing in relation to other therapies are best determined by the physician. Registered providers can now order as little as one vial at a time. Register here.

Bexar County Executive Order NW-21
The executive order, which went into effect on Wednesday, August 11 is requiring masks to be worn in all Bexar County buildings and facilities by all employees and visitors. You can read the executive order here.

Bexar County Health Authority Health Directive for Schools
Recognizing that open and safe schools are vital to community health, and that COVID-19 continues to present an ongoing public health threat due to the widely circulating and highly contagious Delta variant, the Local Health Authority for Bexar County and the City of San Antonio issues this Directive imposing requirements on all public schools offering instruction to students in any grades from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. 

In Memoriam - David Shulman, MD

David Shulman, MD was an ophthalmologist and a member of the Bexar County Medical Society for 47 years and he served as BCMS President in 1995.The Bexar County Medical Society extends sympathy to the family and friends of Dr. David Shulman. Read more.

Outpatient Strategies for COVID-19 Infection
This is a summary of recommendations from STRAC ID Leads for outpatient management of COVID-19. There are no oral FDA-approved or authorized therapies for COVID-19. • NIH and Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) guidelines do not recommend non-FDA authorized or approved therapies for COVID-19 outside of a clinical trial.
