The 2020 Census’ Importance to Your Patients The 2020 Census is gearing up, the data collected for Texas will tell us how $675 billion in federal funding will be distributed for programs including Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, adoption assistance and several others. A Texas undercount would affect funding for these programs so we are asking physicians to stress the importance of participation to their patients. TMB Clears Up Questions About Texas PMP Checks Starting March 1st, all physicians will be required to check a patient’s prescription history for evidence of doctor-shopping or drug diversion prior to prescribing certain medications. With this new law going into effect, it’s resulting in many questions and the TMB is providing answers. In addition, TMA has created a PMP Section in their website as a resource to physicians.
Peripheral Vascular Association Launches The PVA Channel Peripheral Vascular Associates recently launched The PVA Channel, a resource to help educate the community on vascular disease symptoms, causes and treatments. These short videos by PVA Physicians, will focus on a different topic each week so be sure to tune in.
Mosquito Repellant Now Covered Under State Health Programs With summer just around the corner, it’s important to start protecting ourselves from mosquito-borne disease such as the Zika virus. HHSC issued a standing order this week, that mosquito repellant is now covered in Medicaid, CHIP and other state health programs. The order itself serves as a prescription so patients do not need to contact their physician. You can read the full article here |
