BCMS is seeking physician members who would like to participate in committees for 2020. Your leadership and participation is fundamental for the well-being of organized medicine and the Bexar County Medical Society. Your involvement makes our committees strong and vibrant! The stronger the participation, the more BCMS can accomplish. You can help make a difference to the practice of medicine. A few examples of BCMS committees are: Emergency Preparedness, Legislative and Socioeconomics, Public Health, Women in Medicine, etc.

Misinformation that leads to disease outbreaks is spread by groups who oppose immunization practices and who question the effectiveness of vaccines12. In the United States, 45% of adults report that they do not believe that the general public receives enough vaccine education from doctors6. This may be causal to the 71% of U.S. adults (without chronic health conditions) who reported using the internet for health-related searches. Adults who opt out of traditional medical care and rely on virtual, often non-medical resources, are largely responsible for the contraction and spread of vaccine-preventable diseases
