Morgan’s Wonderland Addition

Dear members of BCMS:

Gordon Hartman, founder of Morgan’s Wonderland, is embarking on a project to assist

children with special needs who have a variety of medical issues. He has begun a long-term

plan to develop new additions to Wonderland, Texas in the coming years to

broaden their work and move forward their brand that is all-encompassing when it comes

to assisting the special-needs community.

His first endeavor of this plan is to build a MULTI-ASSISTANCE CENTER at Morgan’s

Wonderland (The MAC). The MAC will be a 73,000-square-foot, three-story building

overlooking the expansive landscape of Morgan’s Wonderland and other improvements

within Longhorn Quarry. The purpose of this new facility will be to provide space to any

person, entity or group that performs services to help special-needs individuals.

The plan is to present details of The MAC and gauge the level of interest in this endeavor at two public meetings to be held at MORGAN’S WONDERLAND ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13th. Both meetings will offer the same content but are being held at different times – 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

You are invited to attend either of the meetings and invite others interested in becoming involved in the many opportunities at Wonderland, Texas focused on serving the special-needs community.

TMA Councils and Committees

One of the most important responsibilities of the incoming president of the Texas Medical Association is the selection of physicians to serve on TMA’s councils and committees.  Our association depends on the active participation of those who serve on these components that initiate our policies and programs.

I am asking you, as a leader in your county society, to assist me by recommending physicians you believe are qualified and interested in serving.  A link to the council and committee charges is shown below.

Specifically, I hope you will take the time to identify physicians who have expertise in the areas addressed by TMA councils and committees, as well as physicians whom you believe have leadership qualities and should be given opportunities to develop that potential.  Your recommendations will be of great value to me, and I will give every recommendation careful review and consideration.

A recommendation form is linked below.  Please use as many forms as necessary to designate additional nominations.  If you personally are not currently serving on a TMA council or committee and would like to do so, please take this opportunity to indicate your own interest. TMA Bylaws provide that a physician may serve as a member of only one board, council or committee at a time.

I would appreciate receiving your recommendations no later than February 15, 2018.

Sincerely,

Douglas W. Curran, MD

President-Elect
