BCMS
physicians attend meetings with elected officials As part
of the recent TMA Fall Conference, held in Lost Pines on Sept. 15-16,
physician members of TEXPAC, TMA’s political action committee, honored
Congressman Michael Burgess (R-Lewisville) during the TEXPAC reception held
on Sept. 15. Those meeting with Congressman Burgess included David
Henkes, MD, TMA Board of Trustees Chair; Leah Jacobson, MD, BCMS president;
and Jesse Moss, Jr., MD. Also as
reported previously, the BCMS Legislative and Socioeconomics Committee has
begun scheduling meetings with members of our City Council in an effort to
discuss health care topics of importance to our city and to offer BCMS as a
resource on such matters. Last week, Dr. Jacobson and Mary Nava, BCMS
chief government affairs officer, met with Councilman Clayton Perry (City
Council District 10) to discuss military medicine in San Antonio. For
local discussion on these and other legislative advocacy topics, consider
joining the BCMS Legislative and Socioeconomics Committee by contacting Mary
Nava, BCMS chief government affairs officer and lobbyist at mary.nava@bcms.org. |
Standing (l-r): David Henkes, MD, TMA Board of Trustees
Chair; Leah Jacobson, MD, BCMS president; U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess
(R-Lewisville) and Jesse Moss, Jr., MD. |
