TMA releases 85th Legislative Session results Here are the results of
the 85th Legislative Session and how medicine issues fared during
the 140-day regular session. To read TMA’s report, click
here. For a quick summary of the outcome of key TMA
legislation, click
here. Although the 85th
session is now in the history books, our work is not done yet. On July
18, the Texas House and Senate will be back in special session to take up the
sunset legislation for the continuance of state agencies, among which
includes the Texas Medical Board (TMB). The TMB sunset will be the top
priority kicking off the special session. Stay tuned to this column for
more details of the special session. For local discussion on

The Texas Department of State Health
Services will conduct a webinar next week on The live webinar will be held Wednesday,
July 19, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and it will give health care
professionals resources and clinical guidance for assessing the risk of Zika
in Texas, especially in areas of the state that have a higher risk of
transmission. Dr. Catherine Epps will be leading an
