Computer
Virus Alert
As of today, there is a virus that is only activated by
an attachment. I received a call from another IT person, that their
network is now being held hostage, and a ransom has to be paid to
release the network.
On CNN this morning, a hospital system had to pay
$17,000 to have the ransom paid and the network released. The user in
this company had used their notebook computer to read her personal
emails, and accidentally clicked on a link and it downloaded the
virus to her computer. When she came into the office this
morning she connected it to her company network and it infected
the entire network and now is held hostage as well...
Please do not click on any attachments that you are not
familiar with..if you think you have been compromised in anyway, do
not connect your laptop to a network until it can be cleared.
