Texas Department of State Health Services is recommending that
community leaders take the following precautions to protect people
from the Zika Virus.

South
Texas Blood & Tissue Center taking precautions against Zika virus

The rapidly evolving Zika virus situation has put the blood
industry, including the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center
(STBTC), on high alert. As the largest blood center in South Texas,
we are closely monitoring the situation involving the Zika virus. Our
top priority always is to protect the safety of the blood supply.
We are in the process of implementing current FDA
recommendations, which include:
· Asking donors who have traveled recently to Mexico,
the Caribbean, Central and parts of South America to postpone blood
donations until 28 days after their return....
