Texas House Appropriations Committee approves funding
to reinstate Medicaid to Medicare parity payments for PCPs
By Mary E. Nava, MBA
Chief Governmental and
Community Relations Officer
Last week, the Appropriations
Subcommittee on Article II, which oversees that portion of the
state budget pertaining to health and human services items, met and
heard from subcommittee chairman Rep. Four Price (R-Amarillo), who
asked the group to reinstate the Medicaid to Medicare parity
payments for primary care physicians. In addition, TMA and BCMS
asked legislators to continue the payment increase in order to keep
physicians in the Medicaid program and to ensure patients have
access to care. On March 12, the full House Appropriations
Committee approved the funding recommendation, which would go into
effect Sept.1.
All approved measures will go
before the entire House of Representatives later this month.
Additionally, we will have details coming from the Senate-side very
soon. Please stay tuned to this column for more information.
