TMA provides comments on behalf
of physicians regarding the
extension
of the Medicaid 1115 Waiver
Chief Governmental and Community
Relations Officer
The 1115 Medicaid Waiver is set to expire on Sept. 30,
2016. In order to extend the waiver, the Health and Human
Services Commission (HHSC) must submit by Sept. 30, 2015, an official
request to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
TMA has supported the waiver from the beginning, but in
a letter submitted to HHSC Executive Commissioner Chris Traylor last
month, TMA makes strong suggestions for revising the waiver going
forward to include, among several items, ongoing input from
physicians in private practice.
