DPS provides updates on Controlled Substances Registration (CSR) renewals; synchronization

to begin soon

HB 1803 passed last session;

went into effect Jan. 1

By Mary E. Nava, MBA

Chief Governmental and Community Relations Officer

The successful passage of HB 1803 during the 83rd Legislative Session (and as I like to describe it, the BCMS resolution that became law), allows for moving the CSR to a two-year permit, synchronizing it with the medical license renewal, and provides online renewal capabilities with the TMB. A portion of the law indicates that a CSR in effect on Jan. 1, 2014, is automatically extended until the physician's next license renewal date, thus allowing for completion of the synchronization over a two-year time period.
