Committee on HIT calls

for emergency suspension

of EHR requirements

By Mary E. Nava, MBA

Chief Governmental and Community Relations Officer

Last month, we informed you of written communications by the TMA Ad Hoc Committee on HIT urging a moratorium on additional Stage 2 meaningful use criteria.  Now, the committee has submitted a letter to Marilyn Tavenner, CMS administrator, expressing concerns with proposed changes to the 2014 Medicare and Medicaid EHR program and calling for emergency suspension of two critical elements.  In addition, the letter makes strong recommendations for addressing other areas affected by the proposed rules.
