Are you part

of the exchange?

By John K. Wisniewski

BCMS CEO/Executive Director

BCBS-TX is offering training sessions for the Blue Advantage HMO, which is one of their products on the exchange in Texas.

Blue Advantage HMO is new, and to be a participant, you would have signed a separate agreement earlier this year. If you're unsure of your status in the Blue Advantage HMO, the market provider relations office is available by clicking here.

If you are ONLY contracted with the BCBS PPO network, you can still attend the session, but its primary focus will be on the new HMO product.

TMLT seminar Nov. 5

to address HIPAA Omnibus Rule

Penalties. Fines. Audits.

They can happen if physicians don't comply with the new HIPAA Omnibus Rule, a rule that strengthens the privacy protections established by HIPAA. With this new rule, physicians now face even more scrutiny by the federal government, as well as new administrative burdens.

Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) offers its 2013 fall seminar series, including the 2.5-hour CME seminar, Did You Miss the HIPAA Omnibus? Protecting Patient Privacy and Patient Safety. The seminar will provide easy-to-follow guidelines for compliance with HIPAA, including the Omnibus additions.

The seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the San Antonio Marriott Northwest, offering 2.5 CME credits and a 3 percent premium discount.
