UNSUNG HERO
Michelle Dinglasan was named the
BCMS Unsung Hero for November in recognition of her work as office
manager for Robert Kacprowicz, MD, of Complete Emergency
Care.
The program recognizes those
tireless office managers/administrators who assist their
physicians in delivering the best attention and care to their
patients.
"While not only managing our
urgent-care practice, Michelle has been instrumental in expanding
our practice in El Paso and a second San Antonio location,"
her nominators wrote. "She was able to sort through more than
500 employee applications to find and hire the best candidates for
patient care coordinator and registered nurses, as well as
radiology technicians on a very short time frame. These efforts
allowed us to open our El Paso clinic on time. Michelle is our main
go-to person to handle all patient concerns, as she has the great
talent of finding the best solution to any of the patients'
issues."

Dec. 5 TMA live webcast with CME credit to explain
details of
Health Insurance Exchange
Important updates on impact
to medical practice
By Mary E. Nava, MBA
BCMS Chief Governmental and Community Relations
Officer
As the Health Insurance
Marketplace rollout continues, there are still a number of issues
at hand, and for the medical practice, there are many unanswered
questions as to how the whole health insurance exchange works and
how a practice can maneuver through the details of calculating
physician and patient participation in the Marketplace.
A Dec. 5 webcast offering CME
credit will be presented by Lee Spangler, TMA vice president for
medical economics. Additionally, because this topic is so
important, TMA has released in advance an article that will appear
in the December issue of Texas
Medicine covering many of these details to help
make physicians aware of what they need to learn to determine if
they are participating in the plans offered in their area and how
to identify patients enrolled in the exchange plans.
To read the article and to
register for the webcast, click here.
For local discussion on this
and other practice management topics, consider joining the BCMS
Legislative and Socioeconomics Committee by contacting Mary Nava.
