Good afternoon,
As Governor Abbott and his team begin to reopen our state, Texas pediatricians are ready to have the children and adolescents for whom they provide care back in their offices. Data released from Texas Health and Human Services demonstrates a 10% decrease in doses administered by every public health region of the state in March of 2020 compared to March of 2019. These decreases suggest that following the current crisis, our children could be faced with another: exposure to vaccine preventable diseases.
As a stakeholder in the well-being of Texas’ children, we ask you to partner with us as pediatricians prepare for the return of a “new normal,” and help us to spread the message of the importance keeping up with well child visits and preparticipation histories and physicals. Attached please find an article from the President of the Texas Pediatric Society, Tammy Camp, MD, FAAP, with additional details. We would appreciate your assistance in publishing this article, helping us get our message out to parents so that we can provide the best care for their children. Any help you can provide to amplify our message would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all you are doing during this pandemic to keep the children of Texas safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Tricia Hall
