PART-TIME PHYSICIAN sought for San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, 20 hours a week, $125/hour.

Minimum Qualifications
∙             Knowledge of clinical medicine and public health practice
∙             Must have a valid Texas license to practice medicine
∙             Must maintain a current Basic Life Support certificate
∙             Must have vaccinations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for healthcare workers, including annual flu vaccination

Preferred Qualifications
∙             Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Obstetrics/Gynecology
∙             Expertise in sexually transmitted infections
∙             Master of Public Health or equivalent combination of training and experience
∙             Spanish speaking

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
∙             Sees patients for sexually transmitted infections and exposure to sexually transmitted infections, for up to 20 hours a week
∙             Conducts patient interviews; performs full body exams on males and females ages 13 and up; collects laboratory specimens; diagnoses conditions; counsels patients on diagnosis, treatment, partner notification and risk reduction; administers vaccines and treatments; documents completely and accurately in electronic medical record; accurately enters billing codes in electronic record
∙             Adheres to practice guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention
∙             Becomes familiar with internal medical protocols and policies, and assists in their annual review
∙             Audits STD and immunization clinic records monthly for adherence to federal and state regulations and CDC guidelines
∙             Provides consultation and clinical supervision to Metro Health STD/HIV staff, including advanced practice nurse practitioners
∙             Provides consultation to community physicians on management of syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections
∙             Assists in training residents and health profession students
∙             Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required
∙             Maintains patient confidentiality
∙             Complies with City and Health Department policies

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
∙             Skilled at taking a complete sexual history and trauma-informed care
∙             Skilled at risk reduction counseling using motivational behavioral interviewing
∙             Practices cultural humility, including in interactions with LGBTQIA and gender non-conforming individuals
∙             Able to work both independently and as a member of teams made of licensed staff and laypersons
∙             Able to handle a dynamic, rapidly changing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 5 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to perform job functions and operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment.  Subject to reaching, standing, handling, walking, climbing, twisting, and sitting to perform the essential functions.  Working conditions are in an office and clinical environment.
